Best Linux Distributions for Hacking

In this post, we're gonna discuss the best Linux distributions aimed at hacking and cyber security field. These distributions of Linux comes with cyber security tools pre-installed which we will talk about in some other post. Stay tuned for next post, which will be how to install Linux in a virtual environment. So let's start...

1. Kali Linux

The first and foremost distribution in this list obviously had to be Kali Linux only. The world's most famous Linux hacking distribution. It comes with many tools pre-installed and has a pretty decent user interface.

Overall, Kali Linux (according to me and most of the cyber security experts) is the best hacking distribution.

2. BlackArch Linux

It is also a very good Linux for people who are familiar with Linux terminal and how it works as it has a very minimal user interface. So, you have to be an expert at Command Line Input in order to operate it. But talking about tools, it has a wide variety of pre-installed tools. Infact, it comes with more pre-installed hacking tools than any other Linux distribution. That's why its quite heavy. But it is also faster compared to other distros (short form for distributions) as it has less graphical stuff.

Overall, this Linux is not very beginner-friendly but is definitely good for intermediate or pro Linux users.

3. Parrot Security OS

This distro of Linux has the best user interface among all the listed distros of Linux over here. It has most of the hacking tools and is well balanced. But personally, I would not recommend using this Linux as while doing some hacking challenges, I experienced some bugs and some things in it were not working properly.

4. Ubuntu

I am including Ubuntu in this list because of its versatility and customizability. You can use this operating system for every purpose. You can install every Kali Linux tool on this Linux by a simple script. Also, it has a very good user interface. It is also suited for the users who are just switching from Windows to Linux.

Although it is very good-looking and versatile, it uses a lot of CPU resources. Only install this if you have a very good PC for optimal performance. But it also has different versions for specific tasks. If you have an old PC, you can install its lightweight version. I will tell about versions of Ubuntu in upcoming posts.

Now, after you have decided the right operating system, we will dive into installing the operating system in upcoming posts. Till then, good bye and take care. Do comment below if you have any doubts. Subscribe to mailing list if you want to be notified every time I post something new.
